FALL 2009 GRANT RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED

5/12/1988 - 9/13/2004
Sarah Krause

Self described Orch Dork and Science Geek,
Sarah had a zest for life.

She wanted to go to school that day. It is still inconceivable to us that she is gone. It all happened so quickly.

Nothing more than the flu. We wouldn't have called the doctor so fast if it hadn't been early in the evening. Give her motrin.

She went to sleep, only to wake up the next morning to die that afternoon. What a loss.

Sarah, you are our pit.. and we will always love you.

Sarah's Science Grant

In the past we have awarded college scholarships to amazing Westerville North science students. In an attempt to infect more students with Sarah's love of science, we are now funding Westerville middle and high school teacher and student science projects, activities and experiences instead. You know what you gotta do when life gets you down? Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming swimming; what do we do? We swim, swim swim.

Your Handprint

After Sarah died, I emailed Stephen Schwartz, composer of Wicked, and asked his permission to use his lyrics on her headstone.
He graciously and very quickly gave his approval.
Sarah would be astounded by the outpouring of love and community with her passing. It humbles us daily. Thank you.

Sarah loved playing Palladio more than any other piece of music. You can hear her playing it at a summer program she attended at the College of Wooster.

Sarah's Favorite Place in the entire world
(Westerville North High School)

School was her life, especially Chemistry Class and Orchestra. As founding member and President of the school's Science Olympiad team, Sarah looked for fun in everything she did. She died with a 4.11 GPA, in the top 6% of her class. An accomplished student and great friend, she is missed.

Sarah altered this picture of Chloe with photoshop. It took her several hours of giggles and fun.
